This painting describes the struggle of people of color for peace and equality in this society. We are constantly being monitored and harassed even in our own neighborhoods. We watch sons and brothers die needlessly in the street. We scream for justice to no avail.
This painting depicts the plight of the black “man” in Corporate America. It is harder and sometimes impossible for a black person to make it to the top in Corporate America even when they have the necessary experience and qualifications. At the same the same time there is no support structure in place, in our communities, to give us an extra pull.
To break certain barriers at times one has to use Malcolm X philosophy "By any means necessary”. People of color have to be creative and resourceful in order to overcome all the adversities they face this world. The lock and broken key in this painting indicates that an easy solution may not always be at hand and one may have to resort to other means, including war, symbolized by the hand grenade, in order to succeed.

This semi-abstract painting pays homage to the book titled “Death at an Early Age” by Jonathan Kozol. It speaks of a system that continues to fail kids. The powers that be continue to kill young black minds at an early age. Many are condemned to their fate even before they are born.
Prefete Duffaut, born on January 1, 1923 in Jacmel , inherited his father's trade of shipbuilding. Duffaut had a vision of the Virgin Mary, who asked him to decorate the walls of the local Catholic Church, Notre Dame de Lourdes, with her image, which he did. Upon his return to Jacmel, William Krauss, an American journalist living there, saw some of his drawings and encouraged him to make some paintings on masonite and send them to DeWitt Peters. Duffaut was invited to join the Centre d'Art in 1948. Duffaut donated the art pieces “The Streets of Jacmel” and the “Temptation of Christ” to the Episcopal Cathedral of Sainte Trinité in Port-Au-Prince. He was the first prize winner at the 1966 Festival des Artes Negres held in Dakar, Senegal. Duffaut's works are included in the permanent collections of the Davenport Museum of Art in Iowa, the Waterloo Museum of Art in Iowa, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the New Orleans Museum of art, the Ramapo College in New Jersey, and theMusee d'Art du college Saint Pierre in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. On January 2000, Haiti's President Rene Preval, presented Duffaut with a lifetime award for his outstanding contribution to the art world. He is one of the few artists in Haiti to develop a style so original as to be recognized on sight. One of his paintings was amongst Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis collection. It was sold for $6900 by Sotheby's on April 25, 1996.
What striking colors and dramatic scene!! This painting depicts the battle between good and evil in the sky. Immensely interesting and extremely talented work! The painting depicts the Reine Titante goddess accompanied on the right by Damballah the god of life, fertility and wisdom, symbolized as the serpent, and on the left Ogoun-god of war, whose red shirt symbolizes political and military power. This talented artist gives a full tour of this house of mystery. On the ground and around the walls of the room are various voodoo symbols, bottles of different colors, flags, a cross, and candles. The dollar sign symbolizes greed, whilst the weapons such as knives, hammer and guns, symbolize war. This fine piece was painted with oil on artist's canvas board with an alluring style. The details and textures are truly exceptional. The soft and muted colors are extremely realistic. There is a thumbprint of the artist on the back of the canvas to certify its authenticity and the work is fully guaranteed.
Another of Duffaut’s visions of the afterlife. This painting depicts what life on earth is all about, choices. People have to make a decision about which path they would choose in life. One path would lead to heaven and the other to hell, both represented by two great big circles in the sky. These two huge circles are surrounded by angels and separated by the cross and bible. The two adjacent mountains in the painting indicate that life on earth can be very much like heaven and hell. The painting is acrylic, on stretched canvas. It is fully guaranteed.
